Signs of infertility that should not be overlooked

Reproduction is a natural process, while most couples experience normal pregnancy there are some couples who are unable to do so. There are different reasons of infertility and most importantly it could happen with both men and women. There are common signs which are quite noticeable and one is infertile. These signs shouldn’t be ignored and an IVF centre in India should be approached for treatment.

Infertility Symptoms in Men
  • Problems to ejaculate or when there is small quantity of fluid that is ejaculated or erectile dysfunction when it is difficult to keep an erection or lesser desire to have sex are problems in sexual function. All these are hindrances in making a woman pregnant.
  • Having a sperm count of low than 20 million sperm per mL or semen creates problem in conceiving.
  • Signs of something abnormal in the genital area such as swelled or expanded veins are signs of blockage. This prevents passage of sperms. Lumps in the testicles could mean spermatocyte. You may feel like a small cyst in the scrotum.
  • Sudden changes in the growth of body hair or complexion indicate hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalances are one of the major causes of infertility. Even if you suddenly get too much acne you should take it up seriously.

Infertility in Women
  • Irregular menstrual cycle, missed periods or no periods, staining or bleeding in between your period cycles or very heavy periods for too many days than the regular day count are signs that shouldn’t be ignored.
  • Pelvic pain after sex or extreme period cramping during menstrual cycle could be a sign of endometriosis. This leads to scarring of pelvic structures and leads to ectopic pregnancy and harms your fertility also. Pelvic pain could also be blockage of the fallopian tubes.
  • If you have experienced three or more abortions there are chances that you may be suffering with infertility. Miscarriages may be accidents and are not uncommon but frequent miscarriages point to hidden problems especially infertility.
  • Fever along with pelvic pain and vomiting are signs you may be suffering from PID or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. In PID, the uterus and the fallopian tubes are infected making women infertile. However, at times these symptoms may not be visible and can be determined only through tests. PID can be treated with medication.
  • Being underweight or overweight are not good. If you have been trying to conceive for a year and haven’t succeeded then one thing to look out for is whether your weight is the problem. Regular exercise and good eating habits will help you get the exact weight.
